On Sunday morning, we had winds strong enough that Lake Placid was not safe enough for many of the marathon canoes. On Saturday, severl boats and crews tipped over on Mirror Lake, where the shore was easily reachable. On Lake Placid, the course would have had long stretches of open water which could have put capsized crews in danger of a long swim before reaching shore. We, therefore, had another 10k on MIrror Lake.
