Hey everyone...People love coming to Lake Placid this time of year, because the weather is great and the scenery is beautiful. But, that means the big hotels book up early and their rates can be a little pricey. They also look for minimum stays.

The Pines Inn of Lake Placid (518) 523-9240 is sponsoring the LPI this year. They have a nice hotel right in town that is half the rate of the big flag properties, but they will also require a minimum stay.

The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort (518) 523-3353 has been providing our beautiful start boat ever since the first year of the regatta. They are located on Main Street and on the shore of Mirror Lake, within easy walking distance to the regatta course. They've offered a 2-night minimum stay over Sunday and Monday night for only $189/night.

So, check out some of the smaller hotels on the Lake Placid Visitors Bureau's 'where to stay' website (click me!). You might even want to consider staying in either Saranac Lake or Wilmington (both just 15 minutes away) if you're really set on finding a deal. www.sar
